Smile

Smiling is infectious
You catch it like the flu

When someone smiled at me today
I started smiling too

I walked around the corner
and someone saw me grin

When he smiled I realized
I had passed it on to him

I thought about the smile
And then realized its worth

A single smile like mine
Could travel round the earth

So if you feel a smile begin
Don’t leave it undetected

Start an epidemic
And get the world infected

A Song Was Heard at Christmas

A song was heard at Christmas
To wake the midnight sky:
A saviour’s birth, and peace on earth,
And praise to God on high.
The angels sang at Christmas
With all the hosts above,
And still we sing the newborn King
His glory and his love.

Timothy Dudley-Smith

Missing You

The holidays can be difficult for people who have recently lost someone.
Reach out to those who might be hurting or lonely over the festive period.

The hardest part about losing someone,
isn’t having to say goodbye, but rather
learning to live without them. Always
trying to fill the void, the emptiness that’s
left inside your heart when they go.

Snowball

I made myself a snowball,
As perfect as could be,
I thought I’d keep it as a pet,
And let it sleep with me.

I made it some pajamas,
And a pillow for its head,
Then last night it ran away,
But first – it wet the bed!

~ Shel Silverstein

Christmas

It came without ribbons.
It came without tags.
It came without packages, boxes, or bags.
Maybe Christmas doesn’t come from a store.
Maybe Christmas means a little bit more!

Thanksgiving

The year has turned its circle,
The seasons come and go.
The harvest is all gathered in
And chilly north winds blow.
Orchards have shared their treasures,
The fields, their yellow grain.
So open wide the doorway-
Thanksgiving comes again!
