Funerals, Memorials, & Eulogies

What the caterpillar perceives is the end, to the butterfly is just the beginning

May I express my sympathy at the loss of your loved one.

The funeral service will give you an opportunity to offer thanks for the life of your loved one, and in the company of family and friends to be open to the mixture of emotions that his or her death brings. Feelings such as grief, gratitude, sadness, and joy often intermingle.

In all of this, you will be commending your loved one into the hands of God who holds all of us in life and death, the one who is both the source of life and its goal.

A eulogy is a written or spoken tribute. The purpose of a eulogy is to memorialize the person and offer sympathy and comfort to the grieving family and friends. This is the time to reflect on the life of the person and remember how he or she impacted one's life. To share happy memories of time spent with this person.

Writing a eulogy is not an easy task, you want to write something that is beautiful and memorable. The easiest way to do this is to speak from the heart about the person you have lost.

Eulogy Poem

His Journey's Just Begun

Don't think of him as gone away
his journey's just begun,
life holds so many facets
this earth is only one.

Just think of him as resting
from the sorrows and the tears
in a place of warmth and comfort
where there are no days and years.

Think how he must be wishing
that we could know today
how nothing but our sadness
can really pass away.

And think of him as living
in the hearts of those he touched...
for nothing loved is ever lost
and he was loved so much.
- E. Brennerman

Bereavement Poems

Death leaves a heartache
no one can heal;
Love leaves a memory no
one can steal
- Irish Tombstone

Those we love don't go away,
They walk beside us every day,
Unseen, unheard, but always near,
Still loved, still missed and very dear.
